"While attending zone training in Pittsburgh in 2024, I had the opportunity to hear Jonas Salk's son speak about his fathers journey to find a cure for Polio. Both his father's untiring efforts to find a cure and refusal to accept a patent for his vaccine, inspired me to "take action" and do something for Polio during my year as District Governor. What began as a plan to do a walk in my district of 60 clubs has evolved into our zone-wide "World's Largest Polio Walk" thanks to the amazing support of all my fellow zone 26-27 District Governor colleagues. On World Polio Day, Saturday, June 24th at 10:00am CST, I hope you will join us to raise awareness of the work we have done to end Polio and help us raise funds to end this disease once and for all."

Rick Reigner, District Governor 2026-2027
District 6440

On 10/24/26, World Polio Day at 10 a.m. CST, Rotary members across Region 36 – Zones 25 & 29 are coming together for something BIG — a bold, unified step toward a polio-free world.

We are calling on 36,620 Rotarians and 964 Rotaractors across 11 states and 2 countries to take part in the World’s Largest Polio Walk — a powerful, visible demonstration of our commitment to ending polio forever.

This is more than a walk. It’s a movement.

🚶‍♀️ Every step taken helps raise awareness and support our collective goal of raising $1 million to end polio. Together, we are “This Close” to eradication—and this is our moment to push across the finish line.

📌 Resources to help you plan and promote your walk can be found on the side panel.

💜 Why It Matters:
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for decades, reducing cases by over 99.9%. But until we finish the job, children everywhere remain at risk. This walk is our chance to stand united, raise awareness, and show the world that Rotary will not stop until polio is eradicated.

Together, we will make history.
Together, we will take steps toward a polio-free future.

👟 Join the movement. Take the step. End Polio Now.
